Back from GDC
Adam, Hunter, and I are back from a great time in Austin. Of course we wish you all were with us, but we thank you for holding down the fort and continuing to work on the prototype while we were away. We have learned a lot and are excited for the new directions we will be taking with our David prototype in preperation to bring it to the San Fransisco GDC.
We will have our regular mandatory meeting and recap of GDC Saturday at 5PM. We will discuss the battle plan for the final presentation at Sony Online Entertainment, so please be prepared to devote Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night to the project or at least be ready should you be called on. This is the last stretch so I expect it to be crunchy and red bully.
Let's rock this thing and put it away for awhile!

Node3 Blockout and Plan: edit Texture Update
Here's a quick geometric blockout for Node3. We'll be doing all of the level in max or maya. The first picture is an overall of how it will be put together. The 2nd picture is an exploded view of the components that make up the level. Erich and I will be modeling these pieces to completion within the next week. See you Saturday.

TEXTURE DAY: ENGAGE!
Saturday, August 16, 2008
Welcome back Erich
Erich has returned from his long journey across the northernlands. He says he loves everyone and cried without us. He is looking forward to getting back on the project and will be joining us Wednesday.

Meeting Wrap Up
Just to review the meeting and give an idea on where we are at.
We're at a unique opportunity to either fall far behind or stay on schedule. The reality is we probably need to step up this next week and a half. There is a large chunk of work that needs to be done before Wednesday, and then an even larger chunk before the following Wednesday. In order to really succeed here, and for the outlook of the back 5 weeks, we need to have a beta of node 2 finished for the midterm. The project needs to look finished and as presentable as our previous level by then, in order for us to have sufficient time to finish the third node, debug node 1, and publish the entire project (that's almost entirely on me)
So to hop back into it these things need to be done before class Wednesday:
1. Implement changes to environment models.
2. All environment models unwrapped.
3. Characters modeled and unwrapped.
This will set us up for the week leading up to the final, in which:
1. All environment textures must be finished.
2. Produce a prototype reflecting a working example of gameplay.
3. Characters rigged.
If we keep these milestones in mind, we will transition nicely into the node 3, which is mostly focused on animation. Think of node 3 as the ending movie to our prototype.

Doorway001 and Doorway002
This one is for Lloyd. This is as static doorway that will be slapped on over a hole that will be cut through a building in the unreal editor.
Notes for this piece:
It is made of stone and bricks - try to show this in your modeling, or in a high poly model if you get the time.
It has dimension to it. I didn't really illustrate it very well to show the different depths of the large blocks that make up the archway, but stagger the amount that they are projected away from the wall, so that when they are seen from say a 45 degree angle, it doesn't just look like a boring flat poly plan, but rather a thick, dimensional and substantial archway.
Good luck, call me if you have any questions. Feel free to improvise, eyeball it to your best ability.
Column, Frieze, and Capital 001
Okay, here's the concept to work off of. I'm gonna give this one to Jen since she's already practically done with the fountain already. I'll give the next one to Hunter and the third one to myself, which I'll do last since I have to draw 'em all up first.
Feel free to add your own designs in to this concept if you'd like, nothing here is totally set in stone. Eyeball it to the best of your ability and feel free to improvise. Call me if there are any snags.
I'm going to be drawing for the next 4 hours or so, so Lloyd will have some concepts to work off of for the weekend.

Fountain
This should be good enough to model from here. The orthographs are a little bit off, but if you look at all three angles, you should be able to just wing it. It's not a perfect turnaround, but the orthos on each side should help explain the perspective image in the middle. There's plenty of readable images here to model off of. Call me if there's any snags.
okay sorry for the bad photo but im out and about and all i have is a digi camera so here's some thummies for the fountain. the blue represents where the water would flow out. Before I go on I'd like some feedback on which designs to pursue further. Of the final selections I'll make a couple perspective drawings for Jenn to use as reference.
Hey guys!
Just to let you guys know, I should be home in three weeks. I'm currently in Minneapolis, and if you guys are interested in keeping tabs on me, check out my blog and read/see my wacky journeys!

1st Meeting
Hey guys, we found out that the school will be open during our scheduled meeting, so we should meet there instead of my place. So head over to the school... Room 265 hopefully, between 5 and 6 PM.
Bring your stuff!
Also, Chad and Erich, if you guys are reading this you're welcome to show up.
